Calendly Events Missing Details in Google Calendar via Apple iCloud Subscription – Busy/Available Issue?
I use Calendly and Apple iCloud calendars, and this works well.
Still, I need to publish my Apple iCloud calendar to a Google Calendar using the standard “subscribe to my calendar” feature in Apple Calendar.
All Calendly-created events appear in the Apple calendar with all the details but without details in the published version in Google Calendar.
I suspect it has to do with “busy/Available” or something like that…
Is there a setting I need to change somewhere? In the calendar? In iCloud?

Hi @Benedict63,
Thanks for writing in! I’m assuming that your main goal is to be able to view your iCloud events and your Google events in the same place. While I’m not sure exactly how you have your connection set up, I have a couple of recommendations for you to try.
Firstly, you may find it helpful to connect your iCloud calendar to your Google calendar using the Webcal URL.
No worries! I’ve got steps for you!
Open your Apple iCloud Calendar in the browser
Hover over the calendar you want to sync
Click the profile picture icon
Toggle the Public Calendar “on”
Copy the Webcal URL under where it says “Link” --------------
Open your Google Calendar
Find the Other Calendars section in the left side bar
Click the + icon
Click From URL
Paste the URL
Click Add Calendar
If this does not help, you may also find it helpful to try viewing your Google calendar in the iCal calendar app if you’re on a Mac computer.
Open your iCal app (the desktop app where your iCloud calendar lives on a Mac)
In the top menu bar, click Calendar then Accounts
Your system preferences/settings should open up, allowing you to click Add account
You should then be able to select Google and connect your Google calendar directly to your iCal calendar app
While this method will not duplicate your Calendly scheduled events from your iCloud calendar to your Google calendar, it will allow you to view your Google calendar events in the same space as your iCloud events.
I hope this helps! Please feel free to write back in if you have additional questions or need additional assistance!
Hi Sam,
Thank you for your message. I successfully published my iCloud calendar via a Webcal URL.
I successfully subscribed to the published calendar from my Google calendar.
I see all iCloud events in my Google Calendar with the correct times, but ALL events created by Calendly appear as “busy” with no details in my Google calendar. They do appear with all the details in my iCloud Calendar.
Calendly probably creates the events with some special status in my iCloud calendar that marks them as “private” or something similar, making them appear “busy” in Google Calendar.
I don’t see where to change these Calendly or iCloud Calendar settings.
Great if you can help me!
Hi @Benedict63,
Sorry to hear that didn’t quite do the trick! I did some more digging, but was not able to identify a setting in iCloud or Google that would allow for all events to come through will full details when using the Webcal URL connection. However, I do have a recommendation that I think will help going forward.
In your case, I would recommend connecting Calendly directly to your Google calendar, and setting the Google calendar as your “add to” calendar.
Then, I recommend using the second method I mentioned earlier to connect your Google calendar to your iCal calendar app. This will allow you to view your Calendly-scheduled meetings in iCal and Google with full details.
This method will help you achieve the overall goal of having full visibility of your Calendly-scheduled events from your Google calendar as well as the calendar app on a Mac or iPhone.
Note: After updating your calendar connection to use your Google calendar, new meetings will push to the Google calendar but existing meetings will remain on your iCloud calendar. If you want to push existing meetings to your Google calendar, you can Reschedule them for the same date/time as the original booking.
I hope this helps a bit more!
Hi Sam,
I am only publishing my iCloud calendar to my Google Calendar because Clockify only syncs with Microsoft and Google calendars, not Apple iCloud calendars. Clockify should learn something from Calendly!
So, in my case, making Google my primary calendar is out of the question—I enjoy the Apple ecosystem and don’t want to degrade it because of Clockify
Or should Calendly allow me to update my Apple iCloud and Google Calendar rather than just one calendar, as it seems to be now?
Or should I look for alternatives to Clockify that are more compatible with the Apple ecosystem?
