Why is there a difference between the email a recipient (the client that initiated a meeting) and the host?

The host email does not contain anything, not even a .cal file that is needed to add or have automatically add events to a calendar. However, the email sent to the recipient does and that email can be automatically added to the calendar.

For email services like Protonmail that I use, this is extremely important since Calendly does not integrate with them at all. I tested this by making myself the person initiating the meeting and that email in proton auto add’. But again, not the host email.

This needs to be changed so that those using other email services can at least have some sort of Calendar integration.

Hi @Roltec, thanks for reaching out about this.

In these cases where you don’t have a Calendar Connected to your account, any booking confirmation you receive should include buttons to Add to Google Calendar or Add to iCal/Outlook. By selecting Add to iCal/Outlook it will download an ICS file that can be used to upload it to a separate calendar. I’ve tested this on my end and it appears as expected, do you see these buttons when someone books with you?

Let me know if you have any questions, or run into anything else. Thank you.

Yes those exist. But again, for those of us that only use Proton Mail; where Outlook does not help because proton calendar is read only when added to Outlook, those links do not help.

Again; the email me as the host receives is just as you imaged above. It does not help. No email account provides the option to automatically add it to the calendar. However, the email the client gets who created the meeting gets the email crafted in such a way that Protonmail automatically adds it to the calendar and automatically adds to the top of the email if the event should be marked as yes or no, etc.

What I am asking; requesting; that the email we as hosts receive be exactly as that as the guest! This way those us of with Proton mail, which isn’t able to be integrated, will at least gets the events automatically added to the calendar (proton mail does this automatically with the email that the guest gets but not the host - just saying it again) with an option for us to at least approve or deny! This is extremely simple of a change on your end and I hope it is done because myself and a friend has run into a serious roadblock now that we changed to Proton - the roadblock and the solution being what I just said.

Understood, I appreciate the additional information here @Roltec. I’ll get this sent over to our product team to review. I’ve also found an internal ticket looking to add this feature, I’ve added your post as support. Hopefully we can see this change in the future!
