I’ve had a really frustrating experience with Zoom meetings scheduled via Calendly. Twice now, when my interview time arrived, I received a message from Zoom saying, “Your host has joined the meeting, please join here.” However, every time I clicked on the link, I was redirected to the Zoom homepage with no meeting ID or joining link. This issue has caused me to miss two important interviews. It’s incredibly disappointing, and I hope this problem can be addressed soon. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi
I can certainly appreciate your frustration. That would be very irritating to miss scheduled meetings because of something so finicky as a broken link. As a quick primer, Calendly is a tool that sits on top of users’ calendars and provides the ability to book meetings. As part of that process Calendly does connect your calendar to Zoom and can create Zoom meetings. That said, Calendly does not control the internal settings of those Zoom meetings. If you are getting the message “Your host has joined the meeting, please join here” then you know for certain a meeting was successfully created and is running. In this case, your best course of action would be to reach out to who is hosting the interview and let them know that you are having trouble connecting. If it is happening to you, it is likely happening to others. If you have any other issues with scheduling with Calendly, please return here and we will be happy to help!
Thank you for your response, but I would like to clarify that this issue is not isolated to me alone. A quick look at the community pages reveals that this problem is affecting a significant number of users. Specifically, the problem arises when an email from Zoom is received, stating:
"Hello Anurag,
Join the meeting here.
Thanks,
Zoom
Best,
Zoom"
Upon clicking the provided link, it redirects to the Zoom homepage (https://zoom.us/) rather than to the actual meeting link. Additionally, when scheduling a meeting through Calendly or Zoom's own scheduler, no valid meeting link is generated, which compounds the frustration.
It's perplexing that the host or recruiter is able to join the meeting while the interviewee, like myself, is unable to access it. Unfortunately, this issue has resulted in me missing two job interviews, which has been highly frustrating and disheartening.
I kindly request further assistance in resolving this matter, as it appears to be a widespread issue.
That is disheartening! Again, I’m really sorry you are having issues. The thing to parse is that those messages are coming from Zoom not Calendly. When a meeting starts Zoom will automatically send a message to emails of people who are signed up to attend that meeting. Calendly has no part in those communications. On this forum we are experts on our product Calendly, which is simply a scheduling tool, and we have a very limited knowledge of Zoom. I think you question would be better answered on Zoom’s Community. You can find that page here → https://community.zoom.com/
Yeah i have reported this issue on the zoom community as well . If you could also try and resolve this issue from your side or if you could put a word from yours side to the zoom then it would be a great help . Thank you
