Hi CalPal!

We’ve heard your concerns about keeping your account safe. Security is something we take very seriously at Calendly. To that end, we’ve made some updates your account’s security, you might have noticed when signing in. Below is a brief summary of some of the changes. If you want to know more, check out the Security & Compliance area in our Help Center.

Am I Safer?

Yes! If you’ve recently seen new prompts while logging in, this is why. We’ve implemented:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA)
  • Login verification for email + password users

What is two-factor authentication (2FA) and why should I use it?

If your login is your front door then 2FA is both the lock and the deadbolt for your account. When you turn it on, you’ll enter your password plus a one-time code from an authenticator app, ie. Google Authenticator.

Cause: Passwords can be guessed or stolen.
Effect: A code from your phone ensures only you can log in.

Even if you don’t enable 2FA, you might still see a one-time code emailed to you if something looks unusual, like logging in from a new device. More on that in the next section.

Here’s guide to get set-up

What is login verification for email + password users?

If you don’t use 2FA yet, we still want you protected. When our system spots unusual activity (new location, new device, etc.), we’ll proactively make sure that it is really you. We’ll send you an email with a one-time code. Just follow the prompts and you’ll be back in.

Cause: Unusual sign-in attempts could mean someone else is trying to access your account.
Effect: A one-time code delivered to your email confirms it’s really you.

Downstream Effect: Be sure to keep your login email up-to-date you’ll miss verification codes.
