I am new to Calendly and I would like to attach a pdf file to confirmation email (after the user has booked the meeting). I would like this pdf file to be sent along with the confirmation email.

Hey there
At this time, Workflows (i.e. confirmation emails, followup emails, reminder emails and so on) do not allow for attachments. However, you can include hyperlinks! A great workaround here would be linking to the desired PDF since it cannot be manually included as an attachment.
