I send my Calendly link out dozens of times per week, and no one has ever had an issue with it. My name/URL does not contain anything that would trigger a Scunthorpe problem. I’ve now gotten someone who works at a small medical practice telling me the link is being blocked as malicious (and of course doesn’t seem to understand that this is something their IT team has chosen to block, not a problem with my setup).

Has anyone encountered this? Any idea what filter would be blocking Calendly and/or what sort of categorization it would be under? The person did not suggest that their employer massively locks down the internet, and it would seem that people there would need standard web access to perform their jobs.

Hi @eeka - Thanks for reaching out.

Yes unfortunately I have seen things like this before. I’m not sure what exactly would need to change but this would need to be a conversation between that invitee and their IT team to see why it may be getting blocked, and if there is any chance to unblock it, might of been something done by accident. I’ve seen companies lock down all websites outside of the ones they use on the day-to-day, it varies a bit from different organizations though.

In these cases I’d usually recommend the client to open the link from their phone while using mobile data or connected to another network to access your link.

Let me know if you have any questions

Oh, this person was pretty insistent that I was sending them a malicious link and they would not be attempting to access it in any way. I did of course explain why it was showing that and suggest they contact their IT team, but they weren’t convinced. It doesn’t appear that the organization has their internet extremely locked down, as my work with them indicates others there are freely visiting sites that no one would have specifically whitelisted (I am a similar type of provider as well, and it would be pretty impossible to do our work without normal internet access).

I was more curious whether this was a known issue in which a particular filtering software has Calendly categorized incorrectly, or perhaps bundled with something like job-search software that certain places block. Most of the filtering companies now require a subscription to look up how they have a URL categorized, so I unfortunately can’t do much research into this as I don’t use one here.

Understood, I appreciate the input. I asked around to confirm, but we’re not seeing anything widespread that would be causing this, I haven’t heard of any false positives that Calendly might be running into as far as filtering goes. If I hear anything else down the line I’ll let you now. I appreciate you bringing this up in case we hear more down the line.
