Is This A Fake Appointment on My Calendly?

I received an appointment request on my calendly from what ai and google are calling a suspicious email account. The email ends with @hoogle.com.  How do I know if the appointment that was made is a fake / bot and how can I prevent this from happening again?

Hi @Angeline58763,

If AI and Google are deeming it a suspicious email account, I’d probably heed their advice and cancel the event. No harm in being extra protective of your calendar!

The more likely scenario is that someone mistyped google.com as ‘g’ and ‘h’ are right next to each other - which sounds like a mistake I’d make! I also did a search for @hoogle.com and the only thing that really comes up tangentially is a really high tech API search for software use. Usually the spam domains come up with all sorts of reports and warnings. Also spammers usually do repeat events, not a single standalone event.

Thank you this is helpful.  Good idea on the misspelling, I will try the google email address version.

Noted on spammers usually creating repeat events, that is also helpful.

Appreciate your prompt response!

Hi @Angeline58763 just following up here — Calendly now lets you require email verification for event types to reduce spam and fake bookings. Thanks for sharing your feedback earlier; this update was driven by your and others’ requests.
