  1. The issue is the setting labeled free/busy: it is set to ALLOW invitees to book OVER events.

***I spent several hours add exceptions like meeting begins with a, b, c, d, e….etc. to include the entire alphabet and it did not help at all.

  1. I had an appointment scheduled at 6:00 Wednesday the 29th on my Google calendar and had to CHANGE the client to accommodate the calendly meeting that overbooked to that occupied/busy time slot.
  2. I had to change the previously booked appointment this week, and several times last week. Very unprofessional and will potentially lose clients if this continues.
  3. This happens for all meetings and happened several times so far.
  4. I have disconnected and reconnected my calendars.
  5. I have adjusted and worked on my Google calendar settings.
  6. I have adjusted everything I can think of through calendly.
  7. I have now submitted an email ticket since I am unable to speak to a representative on the free version.
  8. I am EXTREMELY upset that I can not resolve this issue quickly and easily–I am a single owner and need to allocate my time to numerous other issues.

**I have used Calendly for 5+ years in my own company and other contracts for companies and have never encountered this issue.

I suspect this is a ploy to purchase “upgraded service”

HI @Lori61822 - Thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear this is going on.

Just to confirm, you’re having issues with invitee’s booking over your Google Calendar events, is that correct?

The Free/Busy rules section of your event settings is what allows events to book over events in your Calendar. For instance, if I have an event named ‘Team Meeting’ in my calendar, adding Team meeting would allow this Calendly event to book over any team meeting in my google calendar:

If you’re wanting to make sure Calendly does not book over events in your calendar, here are the main items Calendly checks for:

  • Your Connected Calendar and any Sub-Calendars : If you have more than one sub-calendar in your account, I’d make sure that they are selected correctly from this page: https://calendly.com/app/availability/calendar_settings
  • Your Calendar Events Free/Busy status: You’ll want to make sure any event that isn’t supposed to be booked over, mark it as busy in your Calendar here:

These are the two biggest things that would effect Event overlap. Can you double check these settings for me and let me know? If you have any other screenshots you can share with me,I can help dig into this further. :)

My events are already marked busy and calendly still books over them. I need more assistance to simple change the setting to DO NOT ALLOW calendly to book over any events. Where can I find that option?  The meeting was correctly set and was still booked over.

Got it, in this case you’ll want to double check and make sure the Lori Bitar sub-calendar is selected in your Calendly account here: https://calendly.com/app/availability/calendar_settings

Then you’ll select the box under Calendars to check for conflicts:

You should be able to find the sub-calendar here - If not, is there another email you use that might be attached to this specific event? Let me know!

That setting was already enabled on all connected calendars. I am still able to book over busy events on my calendar. How can I get this resolved?

This is also what is displayed on the calendly settings but does not work: Bookable times won’t be available during any busy events on the following calendars:

Okay, thanks for checking that, heres what I would check next:

Lets see if Calendly is picking up any events from your calendar:

  • To do this, go to your booking page and select the Troubleshoot button:

Once you do this, go ahead and click on a couple days to see if there are any errors appearing, you’ll want to check anything that says CALENDAR:

Additionally, I’d recommend removing anything that might still be under the Free/Busy Rules section as those could be allowing that event to book over busy events

Let me know if you have any other questions!
