Feature Request: Support Salesforce Integration User Licenses for the Managed Salesforce Integration
We would like Calendly’s managed Salesforce integration to support Salesforce’s dedicated Salesforce Integration user license.
Salesforce provides the Integration license specifically for API/service-account integrations, allowing organizations to follow least-privilege security practices without consuming a full Sales Cloud license for an integration user.
We tested this directly with Calendly:
- A dedicated user with a full Salesforce license successfully connects to Calendly.
- We then changed the exact same user to the Salesforce Integration license.
- On refreshing the Calendly Salesforce integration, the connection fails with:
INVALID_TYPE: sObject type 'Organization' is not supported.
This appears to indicate that Calendly queries the Salesforce Organization object as part of its connection validation or ongoing integration process, which prevents the Salesforce Integration license from being used.
Our goal is to continue using the Calendly-managed Salesforce integration. We do not want to replace it with custom webhooks or a custom API integration.
Ideally, Calendly would support one or both of the following:
- Salesforce Integration user licenses with the existing user-authorized OAuth model.
- Salesforce External Client Apps / OAuth Client Credentials for server-to-server authentication.
Supporting the Salesforce Integration license would allow customers to use Salesforce’s purpose-built integration-user architecture while keeping the integration fully managed and supported by Calendly.
It would also avoid requiring customers to purchase and maintain a full Salesforce seat solely for the Calendly integration.
If this request already exists internally, please add our organization as another customer requesting it and let us know whether there is any roadmap, beta, or planned release for support.
