Scenario / Question

I want to block off specific times so people cannot book with me, but only for certain event types (not all). How can I do this without placing holds on my external calendar?

Overview

Yes, you can block off time on specific event types by using date-specific hours within that event type’s schedule. This lets you make yourself unavailable for only that event, without changing your global availability or adding blocks to your external calendar.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Event Type
    • Go to the event type where you want to limit your availability.
  2. Go to Schedule Settings
    • Select the event’s schedule or availability settings, then choose Available hours.
  3. Set Date-Specific Hours
    • Choose Date-specific hours to create overrides for the dates and times you don’t want to meet for this event type.
  4. Block the Time
    • For each applicable date, adjust the hours so the blocked period is outside your available hours, or remove availability entirely for those dates. This makes you unavailable for that event only.
  5. Save and Repeat as Needed
    • Save your changes and repeat on any other event types that need unique blocked times.

Key Notes & Limitations

  • Date-specific hours apply only to the event type you edit. They do not change other event types’ availability.
  • Settings layout may vary if you’re using Event Type-Related (ETR) availability or different scheduling configurations.
  • No need to place holds on your connected calendar; this is managed directly in Calendly per event type.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this affect all of my event types?
A: No. This will only impact the event type where you set them. Other event types keep their own availability settings.
