How Do I Stop Invitees From Booking Over Busy Events in My Connected Calendars?
Hi Calendly!
I’m currently using Calendly’s free tier and just noticed that invitees can now book over certain events on my connected calendars. I saw the “Free/busy rules” section with the option to “Allow invitees to book over selected meetings,” which I don’t recall being enabled or active before.
Can you please advise how to turn off this setting or prevent bookings over any events marked as “Busy” on my calendar? Has something changed recently in the free plan that might explain this behavior?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @tocatlian, I’m really sorry if you got double booked. That would be unexpected and frustrating. The feature you are describing is intended to give you more flexibility not make your life more confusing.
Free/Busy rules are not set up by default however. If an exception has been made then it was generated by a user. Fortunately turning it off is really simple. For each meeting exception there is a little X next to it. Just remove the exception by clicking that X. Don’t forget to save any changes you’ve made!
Calendly’s default behavior is to not book over existing events, so there isn’t some extra setting to click. We won’t book over any meetings unless you specifically define them. Same goes for the Free/Busy rules. While there isn’t a specific on/off switch for the rule, adding events to book over activates that feature. Simply remove all of your meeting exceptions and the feature doesn’t run. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your prompt reply! Much appreciated. I’ve attached a few screen shots. Including connected calendars, meeting exceptions, and maximum of 1 meeting per day. But for some reason, people are able to book more than one meeting in a day. Wasn’t happening before. Not sure what may have changed or what setting is incorrect.
