Question

How do you add travel time and buffer between back-to-back appointments?

I work as a letting agent in Birmingham, and I use Calendly to book property inspections and meetings with landlords, tenants, and agents. The problem I keep running into is travel time. My appointments are all over the city, and when bookings stack back-to-back, I end up arriving late to the next property because there was no gap built in for driving between them.

I would like to set it up so that after each inspection there is automatically enough buffer time, and so that clients cannot book a slot that leaves me no realistic travel window. I also need different buffers for different types of appointments, because a quick check-in takes less time than a full inspection.

My questions are:

  • Can I set a buffer before and after an event type, and does it apply automatically to every booking?
  • Is there a way to set different buffers for different event types, rather than one setting for everything?
  • And how do you handle availability when you are out at properties all day — do you block travel time in your connected calendar, or is there a better Calendly setting for this?

Any practical setup that works for field appointments, not just office meetings, would be really helpful.
