Hi, I’m a little confused around buffers and how they interact with the end of the scheduled work day.

I have a 15 minute appointment type with a 30 minute buffer after the event. My end of work day for the business is 5:30pm. But someone was able to book an appointment at 5pm even though the buffer would put the end of the event (including buffer) at 5:45pm, which is past 5:30pm. Does that mean buffers are not taken into account when looking at whether an event can be scheduled at the tail end of the workday? Is there a solution for ensuring someone can’t book a certain kind of event past a certain time of day other than making my working hours earlier for all events?

Thank you.

Hi @Jensen37314, that’s tough. I’m sorry you got booked when you weren’t expecting. Short answer is that you are correct, Calendly does not prevent an event from being booked at the end of your workday if the buffer after the event would extend past your scheduled working hours. Buffers are enforced for overlap with other events, but not with your working hours which mean the last available slot can result in a buffer running past your work hours. That said it is a pretty simple fix. Each event type has it’s own schedule you can set without it affecting any other event type. For your situation, I would advice simply changing your availability for that one 15-minute event type. More on how to do that here

Thanks so much for the information! The custom schedule suggestion seems to work great. I really appreciate you!
