Struggling with two way sync'ing to google calendars
I’ve tried a search but didn’t see a solution. I’ve read the help article suggested by the chat bot, I’ve watched youtube videos on set up. It looks like on my end Calendly is talking to google, but only one way.
A person books via a calendly link I receive the email and that booking shows up in my google calendar. However, Calendly is allowing people to book times that are taken already. I’ve attached screenshots to hopefully help. Setting page:
Appointment Booking Landing Page:
My Actual work calendar for same day. Above someone is able to select times ranging from 9am through 10am, however I’ve got entries in google calendar that would result in double bookings and I can’t find a setting to make this a two way communication:
I want to make sure that those same events are appearing. It does appear that the 7am event is blocking it correctly, just not the 10/11am events.
IF you can send me a screenshot from Google Calendar, I can take a closer look from there.
Thank you very much for the help. When I screen captured the calendly landing page I didn’t catch the 7am slot. From that link you would be able to book a time at 7am. Here is the google calendar from the web:
Okay thanks for sending that over - Just to confirm, are all the events in your calendar marked as Busy? If they are marked as free, they would be ignored by Calendly.
Honestly not sure. I’ve always figured if it was in the calendar it was busy. is there a google setting where by default all events are busy or not?
I’m not sure Google has that implemented at this time, but you should be able to quickly check by selecting one of the events here:
Thank you. I’m seeing the problem. If I enter the event through my android phone using the native google calendar app it defautls to busy. On my desktop using thunderbird with you have to go into options to mark as busy.
Playing with it just now, if you enter the event on the phone, it is marked busy. However I use Thunderbird as my email/calendar client on my desktop and that is where the problem gets introduced.
I truly appreciate pointing me in the right direction and I’ll keep playing with it.
By chance does Calendly have a setting that is something to the effect of “any visable entry is blocked off” type of thing?
ADDED question. I think the reason I’m asking is because on my end I have shared calendars with events that are improtant, however I have no control over the event manager on how they mark the time and as an invitee I have no way to edit this time on my end.
Hi @Holland33243 - Glad we were able to get to the bottom of this!
Calendly does not have a way to block off any visible entry at this time, but I can submit this to our product team as feedback - So hopefully we’ll see more on this in the future!
Let me know if you have any questions.
We were probably typing at the same time. I added this to my other post, copied below. I truly appreciate the help.
