Question

What is reason Calendly does not yet support a recurring meeting option?

I am growing my coaching business and I really need to be able to book executive clients for a series 8 to 12 sessions upfront. Asking them to do this themselves is becoming too burdensome on my very busy leadership clients. I feel unprofessional trying to answer why the service I use for booking doesn’t allow this feature while others do.

I see a post on running this through Zapier but, in addition to the cumbersome 20+ steps and testing laid out in that post, I would lose the benefits of reminder emails/texts to these busy clients.

I am considering moving my scheduling to another platform before my business grows any larger. I’ve found posts 2+ years old from Calendly saying this is a known issue and they’re working on it, but there’s still no built-in solution.

What exactly is the hold-up? What aspect of integrating a recurrence feature makes this so difficult to implement? As a former product manager, understanding this will allow me to be more understanding and patient with Calendly. I’ve been very happy with Calendly otherwise but this is a major gap.

Thank you.

I also was really hoping the latest announcement for a big update included recurring meetings but instead it is “AI”. I don’t need an AI assistant to book meetings, I just need my clients to be able to book a recurring weekly time that is available! This seems like such an obvious use case for tutoring/coaching. Please make this a higher priority!

SAME! I was so disappointed that the announcement is for AI crap. I don’t need more of that! I need recurring meetings! Come on, Calendly!

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my frustration regarding the complete lack of a recurring appointments feature in Calendly and explain how recent changes have turned my daily workflow into a nightmare.

I manage two types of clients. Some have fixed weekly time slots assigned to them, while others book sporadically. The assigned time slot for fixed clients is a balance between my overall availability and my clients' schedules, so it isn't always the exact hour that client would prefer most. If I asked fixed clients to book their own recurring slots on the public calendar, many of them would try to be smart alecks and snatch up other open slots that belong to someone else who hasn't had the chance to book yet. To avoid these inevitable conflicts and keep the calendar manageable, I am forced to manually book all the fixed appointments myself.

Since my booking window is set to 15 days, around the middle of every month I have to manually rebook between 80 and 120 appointments for the following month. When I started using Calendly about two and a half years ago, this whole process took me an hour to an hour and a half. Today, it takes me several hours spread over multiple days.

This is because, first of all, after booking an appointment from a client's link, you can no longer just hit the browser back button to book the next one without getting an error. You now have to exit, go back to the main list, click another past appointment for that person, and open the link again, which adds a huge number of extra steps. On top of that, Calendly introduced CAPTCHA controls. Once I book about 10 appointments in an hour, I start getting hit with multiple pages of CAPTCHAs for every single booking afterward. At that point, booking an individual appointment takes about 20 times longer than it used to, forcing me to stop and split the work over several days to avoid the constant verification blocks.

Instead of working on a way to support repeating appointments, Calendly has actually made it vastly more uncomfortable to handle this workaround. My activity shouldn't require spending 6 to 7 hours every month just entering appointments into a calendar. Because of this, my frustration has reached a peak and I am now actively searching for an alternative platform that allows me to handle recurring schedules without all these headaches. Is anyone else dealing with this, or has anyone found a decent alternative?
