Calendly is asking for a text verification code from the invitee after i book someone, if i click skip and don't do the text verification, the workflows WONT WORK.  I depend on Calendly heavily and had two appointments today not get reminders and i was not able to run cause they forgot.  THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE and it is COSTING ME MONEY.

Yes this is very frustrating. It is confusing for clients and subverts the whole workflow process. I was already considering trying googles scheduling option and this is pushing me to look into it. I hope they revert this asap.

Hey @Stephan85577 and @Dr55274,

There’s a similar post here and I see that Stephan weighed in there as well. I totally understand your frustration and it’s helpful for us to understand your experience as this new restriction rolls out. I’ve escalated your feedback to our product team to help shape how we roll this out. Thank you for taking the time to post!

Best,

Allie

this also happened to me. is this a new feature?? this is NOT OK because i usually book my clients as a follow-up using all the info that they themselves entered to book. having this extra step causes them not to get texts, it’s ridiculous

The text verification needs to be removed!!

I have people calling, texting or emailing me asking me to set up the appointment for them (directing them to Calendly would reflect poor service).

Just returned to Calendly as a paying customer and now you are making me regret it.

Please remove this feature, it is challenging!

This feature needs to be removed immediately. It’s causing mass chaos from our prospects. They have no idea if they are even getting a meeting booked when this flow pops up at the end.

If this is not removed we will be changing platforms.

This feature needs to be removed. I schedule tutoring sessions for my teenaged students. They don’t need to be bothered with opting in for texting--it’s confusing for them. Scheduling should be a seamless and invisible process to keep my business professional. They need the text reminders because they don’t look at their email enough.

We’ve noticed this as well. This is a massive hindrance to the way we utilise Calendly.

We book for clients all the time on their behalf at their request. Having this is a massive block and will result in us changing products if there isn't an option to switch this off.

I don’t understand why this is a feature. Clients are already asked at the initial time of booking to opt-in to text messaging, with every booking. Why would they have to agree a second time???

Hi all - Thank you so much for the feedback, keep it coming!

The recommendation now is to use the book on behalf flow as described in this article here. Which is different than using the public facing booking page to book meetings for your clients.

We’re working on a new process for verification when using the book on behalf feature. With that said, the rollout is still in progress, so we can’t guarantee an exact timeline for access.

With the new flow, the host can enter the invitee’s phone number during booking, and the invitee will receive a text with a confirmation link to opt in to SMS notifications. That means the Invitee can complete verification when it’s convenient for them, rather than you needing to collect a 6-digit code live during booking.

If you have questions, or want to ensure the feature is enabled for you, I’d recommend reaching out to our support team at support@calendly.com

Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
