Safari bug: oversized Google Meet / Zoom / Teams icons block the booking form (inline embeds and booking pages)

Hello everyone,

For several days, the booking form is broken on Safari when an event offers Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams as a location option. I first noticed it on my own inline embed, then tested several other websites using Calendly: the problem is everywhere.

What happens

At the "Enter details" step, the location icon (Google Meet, Zoom or Teams) is rendered at a huge size and overlaps the fields below it (the phone number field in my case). Clients can't properly select a meeting type, and in practice many of them simply can't book.

Environment

  • Affected: Safari on macOS and Safari on iOS/iPadOS (same WebKit engine)
  • Not affected: Chrome and Firefox, desktop and mobile
  • Safari version tested: 27.0 (22625.1.29.11.27)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open any Calendly booking page or inline embed whose event offers Google Meet, Zoom or Teams as a location
  2. Pick a date and a time
  3. On the "Enter details" step, look at the location choices

Measurements (Safari accessibility tree)

  • "Google Meet" radio button: 164 × 141 px
  • "Phone call": 167 × 23 px
  • "FaceTime" (custom location, no brand icon): 82 × 20 px

The icon really is rendered at this size in the layout. It's not a visual glitch. Custom locations without a brand icon display correctly.

Likely cause

This looks like a known WebKit behavior with SVG icons: when the referenced symbol has no explicit width/height, Safari can fall back to the intrinsic size and ignore the CSS constraint, while Chromium and Gecko apply it correctly.

Impact

Safari is a very large share of traffic, especially on mobile. For solo professionals and small businesses, a blocked booking form means lost appointments and lost revenue, and most account owners probably don't know it's happening because they test in Chrome.

I contacted support several days ago and haven't received an answer yet. Could someone from the Calendly team confirm the issue and share an estimated fix date?

If you're affected too, please reply with your browser and OS version so this gets the visibility it needs.

Thanks,
David

I’ve been a customer for years for my Apple IT consulting business. All of my clients are on Safari, and I look like a total idiot with a booking page that has this ridiculous display issue.

I will have to cancel my subscription and switch to a new booking system if this isn’t fixed soon.

Adding a data point from the small teams I help set up: we saw the same oversized location icons in Safari on iOS when an event offered Zoom and Google Meet, and the form was effectively unusable because the radio options covered the name and email fields. A couple of things that helped us confirm it was the embed/browser combination and not the event setup: the direct booking page looked fine in Chrome on the same phone, private browsing in Safari made no difference, and removing the branded location options (leaving a plain custom location) made the layout normal again. As a temporary workaround we kept one video location per event type instead of offering all three at once, which reduced the stacking, and we put a short note on the page telling Safari users to open the booking link in Chrome if the form looked broken. It is not a fix, but it kept bookings coming in while waiting for one. Testing on an actual iPhone, not just a resized desktop browser, seems important here because desktop Safari and iOS Safari did not behave exactly the same for us.

We’re seeing this issue as well. I have opened a ticket, but would expect that something like this shouldn’t have gotten past basic testing. While maybe Safari and MacOS are a smaller portion of web traffic, to some other points above the issue also displays on iOS devices, even in Chrome. I think we can all agree that isn’t an insignificant size user base.

For those of us out there - the work around we’ve started doing is to only have one meeting option available for each of our meeting types - this isn’t great. Its terrible really, but since I often know my users, I can send them a booking link that is for their preferred platform. Just tossing that on out there in case it helps anyone else while we wait for our Calendly friends to do this correctly.

Hi David, and thank you for raising this. Attn Calendly team: please fix this as a matter of urgency as it looks terrible. It’s a massive issue for subscribers like me! I’m on IOS 27 on both mobile and Mac and it’s the same issue on both i.e. landscape and portrait. The new AI additions are “nice to have” but we need the basics to work first as this is clunky and would deter leads from booking. The worst thing is: have I lost business over this and how long has it been going on? I’ll never know…

I have screenshots from both Mac and iPhone but I don’t wish to post them here due to GDPR so I hope Calendly follow up quickly to save me contacting support directly as I don’t have loads of time to spend on this unexpected bug.
